India Cracks Down on Zomato and Swiggy for Unfair Practices

Hey, did you hear what happened with Zomato and Swiggy? India’s antitrust body just found out that they were giving special treatment to certain restaurants. Zomato signed “exclusivity contracts” to get lower commissions, while Swiggy promised business growth to places that listed only on their platform. These deals ended up stifling competition and made it hard for other restaurants to thrive. It’s hitting Swiggy right as they’re wrapping up their IPO, and Zomato’s shares already took a 3% hit after this news broke. The antitrust body might even hand out penalties or force changes in how these companies operate.
